Kershaw County, SC – On Tuesday, October 18th, a Ground Clearing Ceremony was held for the new Central Carolina Technical College Building in Kershaw County. A partnership by Kershaw County, Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC), and The State of South Carolina, the building is expected to open January 2018.

Mary Frances Branham, a Kershaw County citizen and current student at CCTC, gave an encouraging welcome to guests stating “this expansion will not only provide additional opportunities for me and all Central Carolina students today, but will also serve many future generations of Kershaw County residents to come.”

After the invocation was given by Pastor Bruce Hancock of The First Baptist Church of Camden, remarks were made by County Council Chairman Julian Burns, Representative Laurie Slade Funderburk, Senator Vincent Sheheen, and CCTC President Dr. Tim Hardee. All four speakers had a common vision of this building’s usage – to continue creating a trained and ready workforce in Kershaw County.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Chairman Burns, Representative Funderburk, Senator Sheheen, Dr. Hardee, and Gable Stubbs, the building’s architect with McMillan Pazdan and Smith Architecture, unveiled the rendering of the new building followed by the first clearing of the building’s site location.
