Kershaw County, SC – KershawHealth recently expanded their healthcare services in Kershaw County with The Senior Retreat – offering geriatric psychiatric services for patients 65 years or older. Located at KershawHealth’s main campus in Camden, The Senior Retreat is over $2 million in new capital investment and is projected to create 24 jobs with an annual payroll of $1.4 million.

“We are very excited to bring this vital new service to our community. The newly renovated facility is beautiful. But I’m most proud of the first-class team we’ve assembled to deliver the very best care for our patients. This is a true gem for KershawHealth,” stated Terry Gunn, CEO of KershawHealth.

Opened in October 2018, The Senior Retreat offers comprehensive, compassionate psychiatric care delivered on a secure, state of the art inpatient unit with expert medical care only steps away.  A multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, nurses, nurse aides, activities therapists and social workers provide intensive therapeutic programming for seniors displaying acute psychiatric symptoms.  Patients at The Senior Retreat are typically stabilized within 10-12 days and then are able to return to their home.

“It’s a great day in Kershaw County when we invest in the health and well-being of our citizens,” said Julian Burns, Kershaw County Chairman. “I thank KershawHealth for being a community partner and for their continued efforts to provide quality patient care.”
