Boeing South Carolina holds “Soaring to Success” Event in Kershaw County

Kershaw County, SC – Boeing South Carolina held a “Soaring to Success with Boeing” event in Kershaw County on Friday, May 20, 2016. Mark Elam, National Strategy and Engagement Director for Boeing South Carolina, spoke to community members about the company’s North Charleston operation and the impact they have throughout the state. As Boeing gears up to celebrate 100 years in aerospace, Elam, who previously lived in Camden for a short time early in his law career, gave a brief overview of the company’s history and the future plans for their North Charleston operation.

Kershaw County Chairman Julian Burns, Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center Executive Director Liz Horton, and Kershaw County School District Superintendent Dr. Frank Morgan also presented information to Boeing South Carolina about the opportunities Kershaw County provides to industries through our local education system, our trained and ready workforce, overall quality of life, and our community’s vision for the future.  

 

Also, Frank Hatten, Education Relations Specialist for Boeing, spoke to over 200 students from all three Kershaw County high schools at ATEC. Hatten talked about manufacturing, careers in aerospace, as well as the hard and soft skills required for jobs in today’s industries.
