CAMDEN, SC — With the expansion of the Kershaw County Campus earlier this year, Central Carolina Technical College has been able to increase course offerings in the Industrial Engineering and Technology Division. In addition to the Welding Certificate, this Fall, students could choose to enroll and complete the following programs: Basic Mechatronics Certificate, Advanced Mechatronics Certificate and Associate Degree in Engineering Design Technology. The addition of these programs diversifies the available training for the residents of Kershaw County and offers students a variety of career options without the need to travel outside of their community.
“The new Mechatronics program at Central Carolina Technical College’s Kershaw County Campus will help us meet one of the most significant needs of our industries today – the industrial maintenance technician. Graduates will be well prepared to perform a critical role in the modern, automated workplace found in today’s manufacturing plants. This is essential for the continued success of our local industries and broadens the opportunities of our students,” says Kershaw County Economic Development Director Peggy McLean.
This Fall semester, forty students registered for courses in these programs of study and the college expects those numbers to grow. The economy is changing rapidly and the need for highly-skilled workers in the industrial engineering and technology area is continuing to increase. CCTC is committed to expanding opportunities in the college’s service area to better prepare students to graduate and meet local workforce demands. “This is just the beginning for Kershaw County! You are welcome to visit Central Carolina Technical College’s Kershaw County Campus and see for yourself how you can make your dreams of a stable career a reality,” says Kershaw County Program Manager Nancy Reading.
