$70 Million Capital Investment
Kershaw County, SC – Kershaw County congratulates GE Appliances, a Haier Company, on the official reopening of their Camden facility as the company’s Center of Excellence for water heater manufacturing. The company has invested $70 million to transition the company’s Camden site from the production of refrigerators to water heaters.
“I congratulate the great leadership of GE Appliances in this achievement and thank our Governor and Secretary of Commerce for answering my request for help in making this possible,” stated Kershaw County Chairman Julian Burns. “Kershaw County will do more than its part in providing the trained and ready workforce and a great place for GE Appliances’ employees to live, work, and raise their families.”
Sold under the GE brand, RealMAX™, the new center will use industry-leading water heater technology to produce the only water heater that holds 50 gallons of water with a 12-year warranty and the ability to deliver 87 gallons of hot water within the first hour.
During the construction of the new Manufacturing Center of Excellence, over 50 team leaders and maintenance employees utilized Kershaw County’s local technical college, Central Carolina (CCTC), to complete over 5,700 hours of training in robotics, welding, and mechatronics.
