Paige Rice Completes SCEDI

November 8, 2023

The South Carolina Economic Development Institute (The Institute), formerly known as The South Carolina Economic Development School (SCEDS), will offer a highly interactive curriculum to this year’s participants, affording them a greater “hands-on” economic development learning experience. The Institute, a thirty-two-year partnership between the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association, has graduated more than 1,375 participants since its inception.

The Institute serves to educate those who support and participate in economic development activities in their communities while providing unique and innovative development approaches for implementation in local communities. Attendees who successfully complete each of the Institute’s four sessions will earn a Certificate of Completion. The Institute is open to participants from a wide variety of organizations and entities:

City, Town and County Councils

Local Economic Development Practitioners

County Economic Development Boards

County School Boards

Regional Economic Development Boards

Utility Companies

Local/State Government

Banks and many others

Paige has been attending two day sessions every three months since February. A vast network was created through this experience. "I was afraid that I would feel like I didn't belong considering my age. However, the connections I have made and knowledge that I aquired has proven to be most valuable." - Paige Rice
