Expo In Action

On November 4th, 2022, eighth graders from all over Kershaw County travelled to Central Carolina Technical College campus to get a view of the many careers that await them. The day began with a greeting from Woolard Technology Center staff, Economic Development staff, and CCTC staff. Every student received a custom made draw string bag with a water bottle inside.

Each group took turns rotating through the four zones (Manufacutring, Service & Technology, Trade and Innovation). EMS, Fire, and the Sheriff's office participated in showing the students the endless possibilities within the county at our Service and Technology zone. Instructors from CCTC gave a demonstration in the mechatronics lab which was located in our innovation zone. Participants from the Trade zone included Duke Energy and Mashburn.

In the manufacturing zone, displays were set up by the different industries in the county. Among these industries are Hengst of North America, Cogsdill, Invista, GE appliances, Lucsktone, Denkai America, Roy's Wood Products, Canfor/New South Express, and Custom Profile. The main goal was to spark interest in the minds of the eighth graders so that they might set up their high school schedules according to these interest.

It was a success! Many kids left with a positive outlook on the workforce. The students ate the Chick-Fil-A that was provided for lunch and they returned to school!
